The Key to Healthy Hair

Your hair is after all your crowning glory. Look after it properly and it will shine for all the world. Don’t worry though, you don’t always need expensive treatments, or more frequent visits to Kosmos Hair Salon although you really should visit us at least 4 times a year. Here are some areas you can manage and do for yourself.

For shiny, healthy looking hair think first of your body’s intake. Remember your hair is only a reflection of what you are inside. Believe it or not good balanced, nutritious and healthy diet will do more to make your hair shine than any expensive shampoos or conditioners. Also remember to drink a minimum of eight to ten glasses of water a day too. Fact: hair is 25% water, don’t let yours dehydrate.

Dry your hair after washing at room temperature after first using a towel to soak up the excess moisture, but don’t rub too hard. I know this is pretty difficult but if possible, don’t use blow-drying, flat irons, curling irons or hot rollers. Artificial heating can leave your hair brittle and damaged in time. Be natural whenever you can. If you can allow your hair to dry naturally only once a week it is a lot better than never!

Try to prevent unnecessary hair damage by using the right kind of hairbrush, any of our stylists here at Kosmos can advise you. Only comb wet hair with a wide-tooth comb, combing from end to root, but to try avoid touching the root of your hair if possible. De-tangling wet hair with a hard steel comb can create a lot of damage.

Remove trichoptlosis,( a posh word for split ends), ask your stylist to remove them and check regularly.

Hair loss can be slowed, or even reversed by applying a few simple tips, though they probably won’t cure an underlying condition. Biotin can help to regenerate hair follicles: blend bananas with honey, yoghurt and low-fat milk, and drink it daily. Supplements such as Vitamin B6, zinc and saw palmetto will help too. Other things that can cause hair loss is stress and lack of sleep, see if you can do something about this if possible.

We are glad that most of us are obsessed with our hair, it keeps us at Kosmos in work! But whether you are 9 or 90 look after your inner self first and foremost and that will be reflected in the condition of your hair.
