A sunny December day in Jupiter, Florida and it’s the third Pawsitive Kosmos Hair Salon /Big Dog Ranch Rescue awareness day. There was big dogs, small dogs, pure breeds and best of all and my personal favorites….mutts ! So many characters all looking for new Moms, Dads, brothers and sisters. Stavro Dhima and Christina Beleri have been working hard behind the scenes, while still running the busy Hair Salon, finding sponsors, getting leaflets produced, banners made; all to promote the day and find these lovely guys new homes.

 Big Dog Ranch Rescue based in Wellington, Florida is a leader in the national animal welfare movement, via compassionate and innovative rescue practices. They also aim to educate members of the public via educational programs with the end goal always being able to give the gift of life to as many dogs as humanely possible.

 They also believe they enrich the lives of those who ultimately adopt the dogs and give them a forever, loving home. BDRR appreciates that some people are unable to give a full adoption and oftentimes requires Foster Moms and Dads to give temporary loving homes to these beautiful creatures.  Each foster family provides a temporary home for a rescued dog until a permanent “furever” home can be found.

This also helps give time for the dog to adjust or re-adjust to living in a home, and to learn socialization and good manners. For some dogs, the foster home also provides time to recover from an illness or medical procedure before he or she can be made available for adoption. The joys of fostering are many fold and the mixed emotions of them finding them a “furever” home are both sadness because of the attachment you are going to feel but the sheer joy of them finding a new home outweighs that manifold.

 Over the last three year Kosmos Hair Salon are proud to announce that we have raised over $18,500 and found permanent homes for 19 dogs directly from our Pawsitive BDRR days. We are also aware that we have raised awareness of BDRR  and at least a  further 5 dogs have found new homes because people had seen the advertising and promotional materials but were unable to attend the adoption days.

 We are pleased to say we will be the main sponsor once more in 2015  and look forward to helping more dogs find “furever” homes and raise a few more $’s to help feed, protect and treat the many dogs BDRR is able to save every year.
